The Board of Directors comprise individuals who have extensive experience and expertise in technology, management, design, finance, legal, corporate affairs, marketing, human resource and education. Together, the members serve to guide the Leadership in driving the organisation in the best interest of the stakeholders; and in adding value to the organisation by continuing to improve on its R&D and commercialisation programme.
YBHG. DATO’ MOHD ZAFIR BIN IBRAHIM
Dato’ Mohd Zafir Bin Ibrahim, 49, was appointed as a Board member of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) on December 17, 2018.
He currently holds the position of Deputy Division Secretary (Transformtion) / Chief Value Innovation Officer (CVIO) at the Strategic Corporate and Communications Division in the Ministry of Finance.
His expansive knowledge and experience in public service and Information Technology bodes well for the TPM management to gain a better understanding and insight into the administrative, financial management, quality, transformation and innovation programmes pertaining to the Government’s aspiration on ICT initiatives.
With a penchant in broadening and improving his knowledge on public administration and leadership skills, Dato’ Mohd Zafir had attended several off-site business management, advance leadership and problem solving policy courses both locally and overseas in the UK and USA.
Since 2014 until present, he is a permanent panel member for the Advance Leadership Development and Management Programme (A-LEAP) which is conducted by INTAN for Grade 54 civil service officers.
He started his career in the civil service as an administrative and diplomatic (PTD) officer in March 1994.
Rising through the ranks in public service, Dato’ Mohd Zafir has served in several Ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Finance, INTAN, Public Service Department and the Federal Court.
He had also served as the principal private secretary to two Chief Secretaries to the Government — Tan Sri Samsudin Osman from 2005 to 2006 and Tan Sri Sidek Hassan from 2006 to 2012.
In recognition of his sterling efforts and contributions to public administration, he was a beneficiary of three Excellent Service Awards in 2000, 2004 and 2005.
Hailing from Tampin, Negri Sembilan, Dato’ Mohd Zafir obtained his Master in Information Technology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2003. He graduated with a B.A. Hons (Islamic Studies) from UKM in 1993 and also holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration in 1995.
An avid golfer, he was the former Secretary of the Malaysian Public Service Golf Club, or better known as, Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (KGPA) from 2010 to 2012.
YBHG. DATUK MOHD ANWAR YAHYA
Datuk Mohd Anwar Yahya, a prominent corporate personality and professional Chartered Accountant, joined the Board of Directors (BOD) of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) on December 10, 2018.
Apart from his distinguished academic and professional qualifications, he has extensive knowledge and experience in corporate advisory and finance, policy and strategy. This bodes well for TPM to advance to the next level towards achieving the aspirations of the Government in the competitively knowledge-based and digital economy.
As an executive director of Sage 3, a boutique consulting firm, he is currently involved in two major corporate restructuring assignments. He also sits on the Boards of Maybank Islamic Berhad, Fraser & Neave Berhad, Felda Global Bhd and Usains Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Being a professional chartered accountant, Datuk Mohd Anwar is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). He also holds a BSc (Honours) Economics & Accountancy degree from the University of Hull, United Kingdom.
Datuk Mohd Anwar was a partner and senior director in PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia (PwC Malaysia) from 1991 to 2017. Having served in PwC for 26 years, he had been involved in more than 500 consulting projects.
He joined in PwC Malaysia in 1991 as director of the technology group in consulting business. He headed a team to develop new business for the IT practice. His duties and responsibilities were involved in a variety of projects in areas as IT planning, technology effectiveness assessments, PMOs of new systems etc. It covered a broad range of industries such as O&G, financial services and consumer and industrial products. Clients included MNC oil majors, leading local banks and local listed conglomerates.
Subsequently, over the next two decades his scope of responsibility and scope of work widened and included financial and business advisory for both private and public sectors; human resource advisory; corporate finance practice which dealt with corporate restructuring, M&A, due diligence, more intricate valuations work and major project evaluation and financing; and developing the services business which covered construction, real estate, plantations, healthcare, transport, education and business and professional services.
The broad experiences in corporate consultancy at PwC Malaysia provided excellent opportunities for him to be exposed to a wide range of sectors such as real estate, electricity, water, telcos, financial services (banks, insurance and stock broking), transport and also consumer and industrial products.
Datuk Mohd Anwar retired from the partnership in June 2015 and then continued to work in PwC as Senior Director and Public Sector Leader. He continued to lead major engagements for the firm including TPPA cost benefit analysis, evaluation of public sector R&D capabilities, and developing a framework and evaluation of the country’s industrial estates performance.
Prior to joining PwC Malaysia, he had a five-year stint (1978-1982) with Touche Ross & Co as an audit trainee. He subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980. He was involved in auditing and accountancy work for large and small corporations ranging from manufacturing, services to banking and insurance companies.
His exposure and experience in the Government-owned organizations included a slightly over three-year stint as Finance Manager of Lembaga kemajuan Kelantan Selantan (KESEDAR) from April 1982 to June 1985. This was his first exposure to plantation (oil palm) business as KESEDAR has more than 30,000 acres of oil palm plantation for settlers.
From June 1985 to December 1990, he joined Permodalan Kelantan Berhad (PKB) as its chief executive officer. PKB is the investment arm of SEDC Kelantan Group of Companies. The Group has diversified business interests including plantations (both oil palm and rubber), timber, construction, property development, manufacturing, agriculture, hotels, mining, portfolio investment and plantation.
YBRS. ENCIK MOHD SUHAIL AMAR SURESH
Mohd Suhail was appointed director of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation on 19th November 2019.
He has over 30 years of global experience in IT architecture, systems and application development, regional implementation and business development, across multiple industries, from Telecommunications to Financial Services. His passion in technology drives him to effectively utilise technology as a competitive advantage for enhanced customer experience.
He is currently the Group Chief Technology Officer for Maybank. His other directorships in other companies include Maybank Shared Services Sdn Bhd (Malaysia), MCB Bank Limited, Pakistan and MBB Lab Pvt. Ltd. India
Mohd Suhail graduated with a Masters of Business Administration from Charles Sturt University, Australia. He is also a Chartered Banker of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers and Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Management.
YBHG. DATUK WIRA MEGAT ZULKARNAIN OMARDIN
Datuk Wira Megat Zulkarnain was appointed as member of TPM Corporation Board effective 12th March 2021.
He is a renowned figure in the Malay martial arts scene, being the current President of the Malaysian Silat Federation (PESAKA) and Junior Grandmaster of Seni Silat Lincah Malaysia Association. Appointed Selangor State Umno Deputy Chairman, Datuk Wira Megat also sits on the board of directors of the National Sports Council (NSC) and a list of private companies focussing on sports and recreation.
YBHG. DATUK RIZALMAN MOKHTAR
Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar was appointed as member of TPM Corporation Board effective 17th March 2021.
He holds a Diploma in Business Studies (Insurance) from UITM and currently holds the position of UMNO Chief of Bandar Tun Razak. Datuk Rizalman also sits on the board of several public and private companies in various capacities including that of Chairman, Advisor and Independent Non-Executive Director.
His passion towards community engagement is manifested through his commitment in multiple non-governmental organisations encompassing municipal, youth development, army veterans, welfare to the underpriviliged and drug-abuse eradication.
YBHG. DATUK ZAINAL ABIDIN ABU HASSAN
Datuk Zainal Abidin was appointed director of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation on 6 January 2022.
He is currently the Secretary General of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).
Datuk Zainal Abidin brings in more than 30 years of extensive experience in the civil service, including Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Governments.
Among his various strategic and prominent posts including in the Prime Minister’s Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Higher Education, Public Service Department and the Subang Jaya City Council.
He majored in Human Development Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of New Haven, USA.
At MOSTI, Datuk Zainal Abidin spearheads the ministry in implementing and succeeding STI policies and initiatives outlined to position Malaysia as a high-tech country by 2030.
