KUCHING, APR. 29 – YB Datuk Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Ministry of Works today officiated the contribution of 2,400 units of educational tool, Qamus Digital Pro 17 to 42 schools around Petrajaya. The ceremony took place at SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab.
This is one of the social innovation programs by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) through Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) Corporation Sdn Bhd and the developer and manufacturer of Qamus Digital Pro 17, MyView System Sdn Bhd.
This is part of the government’s initiative to introduce interactive digital software as an attractive learning medium in modern education as well as smart learning tool towards the growing creative and lateral minds of teachers and students in the state of Sarawak.
For this project, the software worth around RM300,000, is expected to bring benefits to 35,000 students in Kuching.
According to President/CEO of TPM, YBhg Dato’ Ir. Mohd Azman Haji Shahidin, Qamus Digital Pro 17 is part of MOSTI Social Innovation (MSI) product where the main objective of the program is to apply technology in the daily lives of grassroots communities.
“We are convinced that this Social Innovation initiative is another beneficial project for students. It is certainly a tool to upgrade their vocabulary in seconds by simply pressing the computer keyboard”.
Also served as a lesson tool for teachers, Qamus Digital Pro 17 is a complete software equivalent to 21 dictionaries that can be used online and offline.
It is capable of translating 130 languages worldwide and among other functions are voice translators, spell checkers, pop-up dictionaries and English learning programs.
MOSTI Social Innovation aims to improve the community’s living standards through implementation of projects, services, and capacity building and skills using existing resources. It is carried out continuously and sustainably.
