MELAKA, AUG. 30 – Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) has today contributed 80 units of eco-friendly generators to selected night market hawkers under the MOSTI Social Innovation (MSI) program as well as a pilot project to infuse the technology and innovation among the local communities.
The MSI program is also aimed for the testing of the locally developed eco-friendly innovation to assess its product viability and market feasibility. TPM has developed innovative power supply generator using renewable battery to replace the conventional diesel-powered generator.
The eco-generators were handed over to the selected night market hawkers by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Deputy Minister Datuk. Dr. Abu Bakar bin Mohamad Diah.
In a statement issued by TPM today, its President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Mohd Azman Hj. Shahidin said the project was funded by MOSTI under the MOSTI Social Innovation programme which aim is to give back to community. It underlines TPM’s support for the commercialization of Malaysian innovation.
Azman said one of the most practical ways to test and evaluate the commercial potential of any newly developed innovations is to encourage the application of such innovations by the community.
“To encourage the developmental growth of technology and innovation, it is pertinent to note the market acceptability of the innovation. It is pointless for any innovator to develop innovative products and services if there is no market acceptance,” added Azman.
The locally developed Eco Genset generator is highly suitable for night market hawkers as it is portable, compact and lightweight. With its size at 13 x 21.5 x 11.5 cm (breadth, length and height) it weighs about 3 kg only.
It has a maximum AC output of 150 W, two units of USB socket, four units of DC 12V output and an LCD display. Once fully charged, it could go up to five hours.
Using the latest lithium polymer technology, the eco-generator is an environmental-friendly product and suitable for outdoor use, especially for night market operators, stalls, picnic and camping. It can also serve as as back-up generator for indoor household usage.
The unit is easy to operate and offers cost-saving benefits. Encompassing green technology features, it has lived up to its environmental-friendly reputation with advantages of being noiseless, odourless and smokeless when in operation.
Technology Park Malaysia Sdn Bhd, an agency of MOSTI, has the infrastructure, facilities and services to assist technopreneurs and entrepreneurs who are keen to commercialise their ideas in the four industry clusters, namely, ICT, Biotechnology and Life Sciences, Advanced Engineering and Innovation and Incubation services.
