PUTRAJAYA, FEB. 13 – ZA Indra Kayangan Sdn Bhd (ZAIK), a new food and beverage (F&B) start-up, is eyeing to export its brand of A’Tan White Coffee to China and the Middle East countries after successfully gaining a strong following in the domestic market since its inception in mid-November last year.

ZAIK chief executive officer, Encik Zairol Alam @ A’Tan Endut, said his company has been producing 1,000 boxes and 2,000 boxes of the white coffee in the first and second month of production, respectively.

Zairol added that the first two batches of A’Tan White Coffee were distributed by two distributors located in Kuala Lumpur and the East Coast where demand growth has been doubled following its initial introduction.

“We are delighted that our brand of white coffee is fast gaining popularity despite being a new player in the market. It has inspired us to look at strategic plans on how to gain a stronger footing in both the domestic and overseas markets.

“Having invested about RM100,000 in our research and development (R&D) initiatives, we are currently in the final stage of negotiations with our business counterparts in China and the Middle East. This has boosted our confidence of the stronger potential in the export markets in our efforts to build our business,” he said.

On the immediate plans for marketing expansion, ZAIK is projecting to generate a monthly revenue of between RM20,000 and RM30,000 in the domestic market. Moving forward, the company plans to establish a stronger network nationwide through entrepreneurship programmes and the opening of “kopitiam” outlets under “A’Tan Coffee” branding by 2017.

Meanwhile, for the short-term plan, Zairol, said they have in the pipeline to introduce two new product variants. The first variant will be the A’Tan 3-in-1 white coffee, while the second is the white coffee plus “Tongkat Ali” and Goji extracts.

As for the medium-term plan, ZAIK is also hoping to diversify its range of products to include beverages such as tea, chocolate, soya and others depending on consumer demand. In addition, it would also introduce “ready-to-drink” beverages and other herbal drinks.

Zairol attributed the company new found success to the assistance, guidance and contract manufacturing services rendered by TPM Biotech Sdn Bhd (TPM Biotech) from the initial stage of ideation, product formulation and right up to production of its finished product.

“The invaluable services of TPMB have been overwhelming and their hand-holding programmes had enabled us to enjoy the success for which we are most grateful despite our inexperience in the F&B field,” added Zairol.       

Taking part in the three-day “Program Semarak Cinta Rasul” exhibition together with TPM Biotech, ZAIK is hoping to explore new business opportunities in direct contact with the general public where the event is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors.

Meanwhile, TPM Biotech is showcasing the capabilities of its Halal Science Laboratory by educating the general public on the processes and requirements of halal validation for food and beverages.

The company was recently appointed as the first member panel by JAKIM for halal science testing and validation due to its competency in developing new methodologies in the field.
